my creative space

BoldImages in King George Square Brisbane, taken during the 'Saviors of the lost arts' craft market on Tuesday.
What an amazing week to be a crafter in Brisbane...(find out more in my last post below)

Behind the scenes of a mums' craft stall apart from the endless crochet there can be; crying babies, phone calls made to try and organise emergency care of sick children....and countless cups of coffee/tea. At the end of it all upon reflection the best part of attending markets is you! All you lovely gracious people who stop in and tell me you love my work and have been waiting for the chance to meet me, to buy my things and to talk craft. It's so very gratifying.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

p.p.s-how to handle someone ripping of your ideas? Have discovered a whole 'suitcase' worth of idea and product thievery going on and need some guidance about approaching this upsetting situation??

I can’t wait to get into Brisbane and check out all the crochet and knitting on display.
I’m sorry you are having your ideas ripped off. I don’t really have any suggestions on handling it only commiserations because it has happened to me too and I know how it feels.

Yarn bombing looks AWESOME. Wish I was in Brisvegas to see it.

I'm sure there are lots of wise crafters who can help you think through the whole ripping-off issue. I'm not one of them, but ask around. Good luck.

Brisbanites certainly do seem to do the market thing well. You are very lucky indeed.

Saviours looks like it was lots of fun. What a total bugger about the copying thing, but maybe you can look at it in a positive light as having inspired other crafters??

Love you blog, especially the header! That little robin is super cute!
I'm a textile artist from wellington NZ... its hard when people rip off your ideas, I think it has happened to all of us at some stage... was it blogged stuff or market stuff? maybe kindly confront the person and say that if they are going to steal your ideas, don't sell it in your patch? it's a hard one, especially when you might want to push their table over :) Good luck to you, and may much new inspiration come your way.....

Hi Kate. Love those photos of Brisbane covered in craftiness. As for the copying of craft, there isn't an awful lot you can do about it except say something to them and if it's not identical then you'd be hard pressed to prove that it is indeed copying. Speaking from experience, have a rant to a good friend and then just grin and bear it!

the market looks colourful and fun. love the yarn bombing. love what you say about the whole market community atmosphere. i don't think that it is worth getting strung out about plagiarism. as annoying as it is, i'm sure that it will catch up with them in the end
